Bloggers & collaborations (+ advice for newbies)

Yes – bloggers get sent free stuff, but how does it work? Whether you’re simply curious or looking for information, keep reading! Coming next : collaborations – how and why & advice for newbies!
Until now, I got to work on two types of collaborations. First one : you get sent items for free and promote them your platforms. It’s mostly used by the brands to create awareness around their products. Second one : you write a blog post while linking to the brand’s website. It’s used for Search Engine Optimization (which goal is to make a website appear higher in Google search) and to do that, brands need blogs to link back to their website – so here we are! To be fully transparent with you, it’s usually paid between CHF 90 to CHF 150 for small bloggers. Another type of collaboration I’ve never had so far, is where brands send products to try and also pay for content creation.

When starting your own blog/channel, collaborations are attractive. First thing first, and many other bloggers will tell you the same : don’t blog to get free items, but because you truly like what you’re doing. The key to be collaborating with brands is patience. Focus on creating quality content rather than working with brands. If you’re feeling lost, here are a few tips any newbie needs to know :
1. Doing it for free is ok – but not always
Brands often ask to write about them for free. If the brand is close to your heart or if they’re really interested into your work. then say yes. Otherwise it’s a no no. Lots of them take advantage of bloggers because they know some will accept. It’s usually forgotten that creating content takes lots of time, even for bloggers.
2. Don’t accept anything – it should match with your tone
Don’t accept anything just because it’s free. Think about how you will build content around the brand and whether or not it will fit into your universe ( all of the wedding dresses websites : I’m not interested, thanks). Back to basics, you must believe in the products you’re promoting.
3. Don’t loose your time – there is lots of rubbish
You’ll encounter lots of brands who don’t make any effort to look for your name or even what your content is about. Some of them don’t even read when you’re answering their mail or suggesting new ideas. Keep it simple, and delete them. (& beware of those offering ridiculous amount for blog posts)
4. Build a relationship – be professional and outgoing
People are behind brands and they’re working as hard as you do. Respect deadlines, be respectful and don’t be afraid of suggesting new ideas! Work together as a unit. Let brands use your content, whether it’s on their social medias or directly on their website. It’s a win-win for both of you!
5. Have fun!

  1. Fabulous photos! Love the split screen color & black & white image! Great work!! You look sensational! Very intense expressions!! 🙂

  2. Il faut être très patient… Il y a beaucoup, mais vraiment beaucoup de collaborations qui sont juste ridicules. Il faut vraiment trier et attendre que les bonnes arrivent !

  3. I һaѵe been surfing on-line greater than 3 hours lately, but I by
no means found any attention-ɡrabbing article like yours.
It’s beautifᥙl value sufficient for me. Personally,
if all website owners and bloggers made excellent
cⲟntent material as you did, the net might be much mⲟre useful than ever before.
